Bratislava Airport
Design and Construction supervision of new airport interiors including space planning, passenger flow, retail master-planning, finishes and shopping furniture. Of great challenge was that the project required the construction to be carried out with the airport in full operation.
We were approached by the airport authority to improve the ambience without affecting already designed building envelope. The focus was on a seamless circulation of passengers and to maximize the airport’s commercial potential.
The interior is flooded by light from generous glazing, with the overall aesthetic emphasizing visual connection and magnification of internal spaces.
Using a simple palette of materials and a controlled manipulation of natural light, the overall impression is direct and uncompromising. Unusually bold use of materials creates a sculptural feel inspired by biplane fabrics used in the early years of aviation.
