Modest side extension and refurbishment of the ground floor living spaces brought modern living to a victorian semi-detached house.
A couple relocating back to London after years abroad was looking for reasonable way to improve and extend the ground floor living areas of their property while retaining certain original features.
Annex wing with newly built side extension is housing the kitchen and dining, the core spaces for our client's way of living. A key aspect was to retain the original reception room patio door while not compromising the natural lighting of the spaces by a mass of the extension. This was achieved by proposing a large roof light along the whole length of the extension.
The extension allowed us to shift the focus of the house towards the garden, not only providing spacious kitchen and dining area, but also improving the connection throughout the ground floor on a narrow site plan.
