Primrose Hill
Back-to-brick refurbishment of a period townhouse to create a 21st Century modern home for a large family whilst retaining and reinstating period features. The entire lower ground floor has been re-engineered to create an open-plan living entertaining space leading to a courtyard with a summer ‘writers’ cabin. The project has been led by renowned London interior designers Charter Projects.
The house is locally listed and true to its period, comprised of small dark rooms not suitable for modern family living. The goal was to restore the house to its former glory and increase its footprint, creating a stunning new extension with ‘crittall’ style metal glass wall below ground leading into the garden.
The conservation officer stipulated that any extension to the property should match the existing style of the building. Through our experience with conservation work we were able to convince the planners to grant planning on a glass extension with ‘Romeo & Juliet’ balcony that complemented the original Regency architecture.
The outcome is property struck by a sense of colour, light and space. It’s a perfect example of a stunning period home with abundance of delicate features adjusted to a modern family living.
