Substantial refurbishment, comprising above and below ground extensions with an aim to create a fluid spatial arrangement connecting both vertically and horizontally. Planning was granted for an extension arranged over two floors with views across the rear gardens.
The project brief was to create an additional play area for growing children that could be visually connected but at the same time acoustically separated, planning for when the children grow older.
An enlarged and open kitchen-dining area at ground level connects via a double height space with a lower ground floor play zone. The proposed spaces simultaneously connect to the outdoors at mezzanine level.
The internal design vision was centered on connecting the areas with the garden. Use of glass opened up the whole space and allowed natural sunlight to penetrate into the kitchen, dining area and play zone in the basement.
In our experience, Building Designs has an approach that I believe people will find very rare and refreshing these days. The team was extremely accommodating and friendly throughout the entire process. They have an option, and the right approach in sharing it.
